If you're bored of eating fried fish yet again, try making this simple sweet sour sauce to go with it.
Ingredients:
2 medium size fish
- black / white pomfret or red snapper or treadfin (cut into 1 1/2 inch slices and marinate in 1 tsp of chili powder, 1 tsp of turmeric powder, a pinch of salt - keep aside for 1-2 hours)
1 large onion cut lengthwise
2 thumb size ginger julienned
7-8 pips garlic julienned
Sauce:
3 tbsp chili sauce
3 tbsp tomato sauce
4 tbsp water
salt to taste
Method:
Mix the ingredients for the sauce and put aside.
Fry fish pieces lightly and keep aside.
Remove most of the fish fried oil and saute ginger and garlic till fragrant.
Add onions and continue to saute till translucent.
Pour in the sauce mixture and bring to boil.
Gentle put in the fried fish and leave in medium fire for 2 minutes.
Carefully turn the fish over without breaking them.
Leave on the fire for another 2 minutes.
Dish out the fish with the sauce onto a flat serving plate.

Garnish with:
1 cucumber - core the centre, the hard section julienned
A sprig of chopped fresh coriander
